It's three weeks since my last post largely due to the fact that I was preparing for a ninety minute presentation on the past, present and future of astrology which took place almost a week ago. (The image above is from a slide used in the powerpoint presentation)

I have purposely not commented on the Aquarius new moon, 'ring of fire' annular solar eclipse and the Chinese new year of the fire horse which both occured on February 17 but felt it would be remiss of me not to mention the astrological event of the year three days later which has seen social media flooded with articles on the significance of this conjunction which has a synodic cycle* of around 36 years.

Rather than dissect the difference between the Western tropical approach and the Eastern sidereal approach I will simply ask you to take the links embedded in each to two articles chosen at random from the many hundreds nay thousands that populate the web.

As you may be aware by now my approach is prioritise astronomical astrology, an advanced form of the sidereal zodiac that actually aligns with the constellations. However in referencing this particular conjunction I did create a slide which illustrated what occured the last time it happened in both Pisces and Aries at the tropical degrees of 6 Pisces (1523-4 - the reformation era) and 11 Aries (storm/earthquake, etc).

However, if we are to compare like with like, the last time that the tropical conjunction actually happened at 0 Aries was in 593BCE coinciding with the start of the Axial Age. This period marked a foundational, "new earth" shift in human consciousness, paralleling the birth of Greek philosophy, Buddhism, and Israelite monotheism as these ideologies began to take hold. So just over 2,600 years ago or 72 synodic cycles - interesting figures given that the precession of the equinoxes is a cycle of 26,000 years and the difference between the tropical and sidereal zodiacs is currently 72 degrees.

The last time that sidereal conjunction happened at 6 Pisces was in 1200CE which saw the fourth crusade, the rise of the Mongol empire, the foundations for the Magna Carta and the university movement - the creation of a formal "Structure" for "Higher Knowledge and Vision".

Saturn/Neptune conjunctions, regardless of the degree or the zodiac sign they fall in, are transformational. Think back to the last one in 1989 and how it affected you over the coming years.

More astrology sites are now recognising the increasing demand for charts constructed using the sidereal approach - one such site is 12andUs where it is now possible to choose from four sidereal options: Fagan–Bradley (Western Sidereal); Lahiri (Vedic / Indian Standard);
Krishnamurti (KP Sidereal) and Raman (traditional Vedic) by editing the setting under your username profile.
