Those who follow my writing will be aware that last year I went to view Luke Jerram's 'Mars' installation at Bolton Library so it will be no surprise that yesterday I undertook a seven hour return rail journey to visit the wonderful Blyth Festival of Energy where for the first time two of his works (Gaia and Museum of the Moon) were on display side by side in the turbine hall of Catapult's off-shore wind testing facility - accompanied by soundtracks and atmospheric lighting it was a wonderful experience. (I shall be completing my ambition of seeing his fourth work - Helios - later this month when it goes on display at Manchester's Victoria Baths.)
The Blyth event was organised by Walk the Plank who pulled out all the stops and have provided visitors with a full four days of entertainment which includes the 'Bubbles of Love' sculpture (pictured below), 'Whale Song' and culminating with a 'Tower of Light' on Sunday, March 8 - details of both on the website.
