Are the stars out tonight?
Waking at 3.13 was a bonus which likely resulted from the fact that the previous night I had slept for a solid 13 hours. I have a habit of leaving the window blind, at the side of my bed, up so when I look out I can see the night sky and, for the second time in a week, I was greeted with a spectacular display of Jupiter, Sirius, Procyon, Rigel and Betelgeuse with Orion's Belt all clearly visible in the South. (The main image is a screenshot of the actual sky captured from the Stellarium app which also produced the image of Mercury (Scorpio), Mars (Libra), and the Sun and Venus in Virgo below the northern horizon whilst the waxing gibbous Capricorn moon was below the western horizon with comet Swan). Fortunately it was a relatively mild night which prompted me to don my dressing gown and venture outside to witness the spectacle and attempt to capture a photo or two - with a smartphone it's not possible to do it justice but the top right hand image in the collage was I felt worthy of inc
