A WAKE UP CALL
It takes all kinds to make a world..

..and it's just as well it does otherwise it would be a really monotonous place to live.

However I often ask myself do we really need the kind who are accomplices to murder/genocide and causing unnecessary suffering to other living creatures? These are the people who choose to work for employers engaged in the munitions industry, factory farming, pharmaceuticals and a whole host of other industries whose products harm the environment and who put profit before people.

Indirectly, you are the largest employer if the truth is known for much of the work created comes through taxpayers money one way or another. Construction is a good example where roads, railways and public building contracts are awarded not to the company that submits the best price, as in the real world, but the one whose directors have the right connections!

The system relies on the basic tenet of human nature that you don't bite the hand that feeds you!! However it takes a person without any values or morals to work for an employer that is directly or indirectly contributing to causing suffering, death and environmental pollution. The fact is that there are many others driven by their fear of lack of money or job insecurity ready to fill the shoes of those who stand up for their beliefs. Nonetheless it's time to recognise that industries that exploit the public and/or the planet are due their comeuppance similar to that which is currently still rippling through the financial industry - greed, corruption and bribery are endemic in the corporate world and since all countries are registered as corporate entities no one is exempt and few have any professional ethics except when it suits their marketing needs.

The construction workers who have been kept fully employed and well paid whilst constructing the deep underground military bases and containment camps should have been considering the fact that one day their work will contribute to the destruction of their own families.

The motor industry is largely responsible for the monopoly that oil retains when it comes to engines as alternative, and realistic, propulsion systems have been around for some time but their inventors have been paid off, silenced or smeared. It is a known fact that GM produced a hugely successful electric car and then recalled them all and had them crushed. There was nothing wrong apart from the fact they generated no oil revenue and the motor dealers could not make any after sales profits as service intervals and need for replacement parts was minimal!

During my long career in the travel industry I have experienced people living in abject poverty and also in palatial splendour and I know that there are hundreds, if not thousands, of levels in between these two extremes. I cite this to illustrate my belief that I have a realistically balanced view of our world as it is certainly true that travel broadens the mind. I've always believed that career advancement should happen through what you know rather than who you know but I soon learnt that this is naive in the extreme and the people in power have got there simply through using their connections to exploit their generally psychopathic nature.

The travel industry is extremely adept at creating artificial pictures of idyllic vacation paradises and in an attempt to enlist my support in filling aircraft and hotel rooms I have experienced some first class hospitality. Although grateful for the experience I never felt comfortable with such blatant attempts to compromise my integrity as a travel professional but I know what I experienced is nothing compared to the ego-boosting hospitality that goes on in the real corporate world.

Needless to say that my sympathies lie entirely with the exploited and downtrodden rather than those who by virtue of their exploitation and corruption currently live an extremely privileged existence but not for too much longer!!
